  5. NEW TAI CHI & MEDITATION CLASSES

  1. STRICTLY TAKE 2

A NEW COURSE, ‘STRICTLY’ FOR EXPERIENCED DANCERS

Level 1 course graduates-

‘STRICTLY TAKE 2’, is a brand new six week course designed for dancers who have already completed an, 'everybodysalsa', 6 week beginner’s' course, as well as for dancers who have already experienced a minimum of 10 weeks salsa dance classes at other salsa clubs. This new course is designed to extend your repertoire of, ‘Cross-body’ style moves and introduce you to more moves from the, ‘Cuban’, salsa style.

What to expect:

This course is designed to flow seamlessly on from our, ‘STRICTLY COME SALSA DANCING’, beginner’s course allowing existing course graduates to continue to develop your existing skills and turn up the heat under your already impressive dancing skills. Course members can look forward to being gradually introduced to an increasing number of new moves each week, and once you feel comfortable with the level 2 classes, you will be invited to join a ‘level 3’, class to see how it goes!

Level 1 course graduates are welcome to join this new ‘STRICTLY TAKE 2’, course at the earlier time of 7.15pm. Your level 2 warm up will be followed with a demonstration of this week’s ‘level 2’, routine. You will then be invited to join in. You will be able to recognise some of the moves and we will demonstrate and explain any new moves as we go along.

We will dance the new routine to music. Following this we will split the class to allow you to continue to practice your new routine and iron out any tricky bits, as the more experienced dancers are introduced to a level 3 routine. Both classes can dance there respective routines with music at the end of the class. Immediately after your first level 2 class, we will invite you to stay on the dance floor and continue to practice what you can remember from your new routine.

Note. The practice sessions are essential, especially for the, ‘leads’, as it allows you to practice leading the content from the class without a teacher calling out instructions all the time. This freestyle practice is key to enabling you to build your own dance repertoire.

Week 1 of your new level 2 class will contain a similar amount of content to your wonderful level 1 routine, and each week of your new course we will introduced you to a new routine, and with each week a little more content will be added, as your ability improves.

However if, at any time during your new level 2 course, you find the content a little too much? You have a choice! You can:

  1. Stay in the class in the hope that you will eventually get the hang of it.

  1. Drop down one gear. You can achieve this simply by joining the level 2 class for part 1 only and move to one side where you can continue to practice these moves throughout the rest of the class.

  1. Drop down two gears, by continuing your development by re-joining the level 1 class and practice each previous weeks moves whilst the level 2 class is in session until you feel confident enough to re-join your level 2 class, possibly for the next course! The choice is yours.

Following your freestyle period you are welcome to join us in the new level 1 class and help our new dancers find their feet, or continue practicing your new level 2 routine.

MORE EXPERIENCED DANCERS:

This New course will consist of 2 or 3 new routines every week. Following each weeks level 2 class you can chose to either recap the level 2 class, or take part in a new level 3, or level 4 routine containing increasingly interesting turn patterns as the course progresses.

This course also welcome returning experienced dancers.  So if you have completed an ‘everybodysalsa’, six week course, or have attended a minimum of 10 classes at other salsa clubs, you are very welcome to join us on Sunday 1st October for ‘ STRICTLY TAKE 2’

We are still offering both exciting new courses at the discounted price of just £49 per person for ALL 6 action packed evenings when paid in advance. So remember to book your place by email/ Or bring along your discounted course fee to reception, (cash preferred), when you arrive on the 1st October!

5.NEW TAI CHI & MEDITATION CLASSES

In a seemingly increasingly stressful world we can all benefit from the ancient and wise practice of Tai Chi, which is a form of moving meditation, that keeps us fit and healthy. It also has a calming effect on the mind that slows our thoughts in preparation to be able to meditate.

A guided meditation will follow every Tai Chi class, every week to offer us a welcome break from the ‘mind chatter’, that causes stress, and leave us in a calmer, more positive frame of mind to improve the quality of our lives what-ever we do.

So drawing on my previous experience of teaching Tai Chi for Grand Master Brian Jones and decades of Tai Chi practice. I feel ready to offer this gift again, and this time offer the ancient guided meditations, that I have also enjoyed, as a natural progression with everyone who would like to join me: Kind regards, Alan

  1.  STRICTLY, ‘LEVEL 1(WEEK 6 THE FINAL)

Strictly Come Salsa dancing, beginner’s course is now on week 6 and this week we will be putting the final touches to what will be your first salsa ‘routine’, based on steps and moves that you have already been learning. This final week of the course is designed to be a celebration of what you have accomplished since you stepped through the door into the wonderful world of Salsa for the first time all those weeks ago!

Following your class this week and before the extra, ‘Merengue’ class later in the evening, we will be presenting you with your ‘STRICTLY COME SALSA DANCING’, course graduate certificate and 30% OFF dance shoe discount vouchers.

We will also invite you to re-join us on Sunday 19th February to continue your Salsa journey by joining us for your first ‘level 2’, Salsa dance class.

Feel free to invite your Loved ones tomorrow night. We have changed the format slightly into a celebration, party night, where you can also invite your friends and family to see you in action. They are not obliged to join in the dance, however to offer a little encouragement, we are offering them, ‘FREE ENTRY’, AN INVITATION TO JOIN-IN THE WARM-UP SESSIONS, PLUS A FUN, (NEW STARTERS FRIENDLY) ‘MERENGUE’ CLASS later in the evening. This Sunday is an excellent way for them to experience a salsa club for the first time, as there will be no expectation for them to join in. So don’t forget to bring them along this tomorrow night for a party night to remember.

  1.  EXPERIENCED DANCERS WELCOME

If you have already completed an everybodysalsa’ 6 week beginners course, or you have at least 10 weeks experience with another salsa club, you are welcome to join us this week for either week six of the ‘level 1’, course, or, if you are very experienced, why not join our week 6, ‘level 2’ class!

Our level 1 class will refresh your skills and you’ll be tuned up ready to join our ‘level 2’ class starting on Sunday 19th Feb’, and our level 2/3 classes are the most adventurous of the course so far

  1.  STRICTLY ‘LEVEL TWO AND THREE’!

We hope that you enjoyed last week’s new level 2 and level 3 routines and that you can remember enough of the content to practice it before your new class begins this Sunday! Remember the first freestyle period is there to offer you the opportunity to practice what you can remember from last week before your new class begins. We also recommend that you use the freestyle period following your class/s to practice this week’s new routine before writing it down to keep.

Leads take note: Everybodysalsa, like most salsa clubs usually offers experienced dancers new routines every week. This means that the ‘leads’ will have an ever increasing amount of moves to remember. In our experience, ‘leads’ struggle to remember more than a few of these turn patterns. So to avoid limiting your repertoire, we advise every ‘lead’ to make written notes of each new routine soon after each class. You can then look-up these notes before dancing freestyle at any point in the future. So why not bring them along every week. If you would like any advice developing this ‘additional’ skill, see Alan after the classes.

This week we would like to invite our ‘Level 2’ dancers to join the ‘level 1’ class once again. Our ‘level 1’ dancers are now capable of performing turns and a variety of cross-body moves, and dancing with you in a larger group will give them a better idea what it will be like on the 19th February when they will be joining us in the level 2 class. Note: Taking part in this slightly less demanding class provides you with the chance to ‘polish’ your own steps and moves, as you will have a little more time to consider every aspect of your dancing, whilst you are dancing.

Dancing freestyle with ‘Level 1’, dancers: Do please ask our ‘level 1’ dancers to dance in the freestyle period after the classes. As this helps them feel more at home and improves their confidence and ability. ‘Leads’, please restrict your repertoire to the steps and moves that your ‘level 1’, partner has received instructions for. An easy way to do this is to join in the level 1 class. This will allow them to build confidence in their developing abilities and also develop a little trust in you, as well as improving your own ‘leading’ ability, as you have more time to work on your leading style!

  1. NEW COURSES START ON SUNDAY 19TH FEB’

We hope that you are enjoying the more ambitious, dare I say, ‘exciting’ new moves that have been part of your ‘level 2’, course, and that you will be re-joining us again for ever more interesting ways to use a dance floor. Both New courses start on Sunday 19th February and entrance will be FREE FOR NEW STARTERS!

  1. HELP US START ON TIME (ALL DANCERS).

Please try to arrive in plenty of time before your class, as this allows you time to sign in, get yourself a drink from the bar, have a good chat with your new friends, and get those legs warmed up a little by practicing everything you can remember from last weeks class, and settle-in before the show begins. Doing this also allows us to answer any questions you might have before we all start dancing together. The salsa disco gears-up immediately after your class with hot, hot, Salsa tracks. So use this to revisit everything you can remember until 11pm.

We look forward to dancing with you again this coming Sunday for more Salsa magic,

  1. STRICTLY COME SALSA DANCING (NOW CLOSED TO NEW STARTERS):

Well done everybody who joined the course this Sunday. It was really nice to see you all settle in so well. Remember we are here from 7pm for social dancing. Please use this time to recap what you can remember from your class last week and ask either Heather or Alan about anything you are not sure of. Doing this helps you feel as confident as possible this Sunday’s class. And don’t worry if you cannot remember everything, as this week we will re visit ‘leading’ and ‘following’ the clockwise turns before moving on to the move that gives this style of salsa it’s name i.e. The Cross-Body Move’!

Starting with the footwork we will show you the ideal steps to take, which once mastered will allow the ‘leads’, to concentrate on, ‘leading’, at the correct time. Once you get the idea of this lovely move and it gradually begins to work, we expect to see lots of confident smiles grow across every dancers cheeks, as all that concentration begins to pay off and you start to feel like  cool salsa dancers! So be patient with yourself and take advantage of all the ‘freestyle’, sessions throughout the night, as, the more you practice the better it gets!

Entrance for the freestyle club only is just £5, or free with your course.

  1. STRICTLY TAKE 2 (STRICTLY 4 EXPERIENCED DANCERS).

It was really pleasing to see you, the more experienced dancers taking time to dance with our most recent club members and contributing to their enjoyment of the evening. Leads please remember to confine your dancing with level 1 partners strictly to the moves they have been introduced to in their class. As your partner needs to practice these moves before they become ready to progress. This week we have an interesting level 2 routine, and also a very interesting level 3 routine for those of you with a little more experience. So hold on to your hats!

  1. HELP US START ON TIME (ALL DANCERS).

Your success has given us confidence, despite a certain virus, to continue into 2023 with 2 New Courses for the New Year. We think that our ‘level 1’, graduates will enjoy the slightly more ambitious, dare I say, ‘exciting’ new moves that will make up your first, ‘level 2’, class THIS SUNDAY 8th January for ever more interesting ways to use a dance floor!

6. THE FREESTYLE IS PART OF THE COURSE

Remember to, ‘keep on dancing’, after your class and take advantage of our freestyle salsa disco c/w hot, hot, Salsa tracks till 11pm because the freestyle is part of the course. You will already have noticed that salsa dancing requires the development of a ‘co-ordination skill’, and like all co-ordination skills, it requires at least twice as much practice as tuition! This is where the freestyle salsa disco comes in! The target here is to dance freestyle with as many people as possible, at least once before going home. As you do this, you become less dependent on your teacher and begin to feel more confident as you begin to, ‘own’ the dance yourself. If you do this every week, expect to experience a gradual feeling of confidence develop in your own ability. Something that is often accompanied with an increasing sense of enjoyment and well-being. This is one reason why after a few weeks salsa gets very more-ish! Heather and Alan are available during the, ‘freestyle salsa disco’, to answer any questions you might have and ‘go-over’ anything that you would like to improve.

(Last chance to join)

  1. DANCERS WITH PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE
  2. WELCOME TO THE LEVEL 2 CLASS
  3. A FEW HANDY TIPS:
  4.  HELP US TO HELP YOU:

  1. Discover the Dancer in You

        ‘Last chance to join’!

Good news for anybody who would like to join the course, but didn’t make it for the opening night last week:

New starters can join this course on either week 1, or week 2, and that means that new starters are still welcome to join the course this Sunday!

WHY THIS WEEK IS THE LAST CHANCE TO JOIN: We only have time to recap one week’s class before introducing new exciting steps and moves each week, so unless we have made special arrangements, this Sunday is the last chance for new starters to join this course. So do tell your friends and family, so nobody misses out. Please note that your £49 course fees are also due this Sunday.

  1. DANCERS WITH PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE

Dancers with previous salsa experience are welcome to join this course at any stage to refresh your skills before progressing to the level 2 class. Experienced dancers can also pay per week, or pay for the course in advance to qualify for a reduced rate, which ever option you choose.

  1. WELCOME TO THE LEVEL 2 CLASS:

Welcome to, ‘Level 2’. Everyone who graduated from our level 1, ‘beginners’ course and moved up a gear last Sunday. It was great to see you return for more salsa action, and well done for adapting so well to the more challenging/exciting moves that this class offers.

You can now look forward to experiencing new turn patterns EVERY WEEK, which although can seem a little challenging at first, you will gradually find it easier to take in, as the weeks fly by.

Reminder: Leads, remember to bring along your notepad this week. So that you can write down this week’s new routine.

  1. A FEW HANDY TIPS:

Whenever dancers Partners and Leads - step up to a higher class, one of the first things we notice is that the steps can get a little long. So why not use the freestyle periods and the ‘line up’, sessions to re-establish your compact steps, after which you may find each new routine a little easier, and more enjoyable. Note: If there is anything that you would like to revisit either during, or after the class, both Heather and Alan will be happy to help.

Leads: Most leads find it difficult to remember salsa moves from one week to another, which can affect freestyle confidence. An excellent way of overcoming this common problem is to practice each weeks ‘new’ routine, as much as possible, after each class.

Another way to have more moves available is to bring a small note pad with you every week, and make a note of any part of each week’s routine, that you want to remember. (Do this after each class, as memories fade fast).

The next step is to bring your note pad with you every week. Then read and practice your favourite moves again ‘before’ your class. Why not have a go this week let us know how you get on.

Partners: You already understand that roles of ‘Lead’ and ‘Partner’, are very different and that ‘anticipation’ is very hard to avoid. So it is essential that you do not, ‘help’, a ‘Lead’ too much as he develops the tricky task of both learning and remembering each new move. But rather be patient and focus your attention on the skills you need to develop. In this way you will continue to develop your unique ‘Partner’ skills and get the most out of this fantastic dance.

  1. HELP US TO HELP YOU:

At everybodysalsa we create each ‘Level 2’ class based on what we estimate each group of dancers are capable of learning each week. However, as you will already be aware, every dancer within a class is at a slightly different level of development, and we all have ‘good nights’, and ‘bad nights’. So do let us know how you are experiencing each class, both during the lesson and afterwards. Obviously we may not always feel able to act on every comment you may make, but we will give them due consideration, and take up any suggestions when we think it is in the best interest of the club.

We recommend arriving by 7pm latest to allow yourself enough time to sign-in, get yourself a drink at the bar and settle in before taking part in the first ‘warm-up’ of the evening. Looking forward to seeing you all again this Sunday evening for more salsa magic,

Happy dancing,

Based on steps and moves that you have already been dancing, plus a couple of ‘Valentine Specials!’, this final week of the course is designed to be a celebration of what you have accomplished since you first stepped through the door into the wonderful world of salsa all those weeks ago! Following your class this week you will be presented with your course graduate certificates, and a little later in the evening we have a fun ‘EXTRA PARTY DANCE, that we think you are going to love!

We have changed the format slightly this week, to a Valentines theme celebration party night with a Pink and Red theme. So why not put on something special and see if you can win a prize for the best outfit of the night!

  1.  EXPERIENCED DANCERS WELCOME

If you have already completed an everybodysalsa 6 week beginners course, or you have at least 10 weeks experience with another salsa club, you are welcome to join us this week for week 6  of the ‘level 1’, course. As joining us for this week 6 class will help to refresh your skills and you’ll be tuned up and buzzing, ready to join our ‘level 2’ class on Sunday 20th February!

Just want to dance? If you are already an experienced dancer and just want to dance freestyle you are welcome to join us for the everybodysalsa freestyle disco. This kicks into gear as soon as the last class is complete, and continues until 11pm. Entrance for the freestyle club is £4, or free with your course.

  1.  STRICTLY ‘LEVEL 2’

We hope that you enjoyed last week’s new routine and that you can remember enough of the content to practice it before your new class begins tomorrow night. Remember the first freestyle period is there to offer you the opportunity to practice what you remember from last week before your new class begins. We recommend you arrive early to do this before embarking on this week’s ‘Valentines themed’, new routine!

Leads take note: everybodysalsa, like most salsa clubs usually offers experienced dancers new routines every week and this week will be no exception! So the ‘leads’ will have an ever increasing amount of moves to remember, and in our experience, ‘leads’ struggle to remember more than a few of these turn patterns and simply forget most of the moves that you once found so exhilarating! So to avoid limiting your repertoire, we advise every ‘lead’ to make written notes of each new routine following each class. You can then look-up these notes before dancing freestyle at any point in the future and watch as your freestyle dancing improves! So why not bring a notepad along tonight? If you would like any advice developing this ‘additional’ skill, see Alan after the classes.

This week we would like to invite our ‘Level 2’ dancers to join the ‘level 1’ class once again. Our ‘level 1’ dancers are now capable of performing turns as well as a variety of cross-body moves, and dancing with you in a larger group will give them a better idea what it will be like next week when they join us for their first ‘level 2’, class. Note: Taking part in this slightly less demanding class provides you with the chance to ‘polish’ your own skills, as you will have a little more time to consider every aspect of your dancing, whilst you are dancing.

Dancing freestyle with ‘Level 1’, dancers: Do please ask our ‘level 1’ dancers far a dance in the freestyle period after the classes. As this helps them feel more at home and improves their confidence and ability. ‘Leads’, please restrict your repertoire to the steps and moves that your ‘level 1’, partner has received instructions for. An easy way to do this is to dance only what they have covered in this week’s class and lead them as well as you can. This will allow them to build confidence in their developing abilities and also develop a little trust in you, as well as improving your own ‘leading’ ability. ’Partners’, Do please ask our ‘level 1’, leads for a dance, as they may not feel confident enough yet to ask you. We cannot expect our new, ‘leads’, to ‘lead’, as well as level 2 dancers. So please be patient. When you notice a new ‘lead’, struggling with their roll, one good idea might be for you to let them know what you needed, ‘in terms of a lead’, for you to understand what is being lead.

Happy dancing,
